Mid July Lyme updates and more..

So I have been slowly ramping up Disulfiram since January 1, 2024 with fairly good results. Note, the research shows DSFRM can kill borrelia and babesia but it's not clear at what dosage and for how long. It does not touch Bartonella. Some say you need high high dosage but others say a low dose for a long time is enough. Low and slow is BY FAR the best approach with DSFRM to avoid herxing. I am currently on 120 mg a day, I started at 30 mg and have worked up to this.
I have seen small steady improvements. I really see progress when I take a birds eye view because I still have mild symptoms and ups and downs. My Lyme DR reminds me that I am definitely better now then I was a year ago. For instance, I was having more severe symptom flares and swings prior. Small improvements I notice:
I can now exercise every day. Prior to DSRFM, I could do a few days a week but if I pushed it, I would slip. This is huge because I can finally start loosing some of the weight I have put on post-Lyme, and I am starting to see results. Finally! Let me tell you, I have been struggling with weight post Lyme and it has been extremely frustrating. I am normally a slight person but have put on maybe 30 pounds post Lyme. I've lost about 15 in the past few months now that I can finally workout the way I want too.
I have taken a few trips in the past few months that have gone well. A few mild symptoms but I was pretty much able to do everything I wanted to do.
I have not had back of the neck pain since the start, and most POTS symptoms are under control in addition to digestive issues.
There are a few downsides that are impotant to note:
My liver enzymes suddenly went up last month which is a side effect of this medication. My Lyme DR will not let me continue unless I can bring these numbers down. Not great news at all because I am not on the full dose yet and I do not want to stop. So I am taking a TON of liver support and will retest in two weeks. Fingers crossed.
DSFRM makes you tired! This is also not a great side effect.
You can have zero alcohol on this drug. Zero. Not a drop.
My next step is to hopefully stay on my current dose if my liver enzymes go down and add in Methylane Blue for Bartonella. If not liver enzymes do not go down, I will have to drop my dose.
What else is going on?
We have a trip planned to Martha's Vineyard in August. It's one of my happy places, really anywhere I can swim in the ocean is a happy place for me, but the vineyard is just generally a magical place.
I am back to watching House of Dragon. New season. Perfect for the summer!
Considering diving back into Lyme Magnet Protocol training and launching a practice. As mentioned, this is by far the most useful and helpful supportive Lyme protocol I experienced over the past few years, which is why I felt compelled to train in the protocol.
Thinking alot about global warming and the earth lately, worried really. A few small steps I/we are making:
We are switching to an electric car. Ordered a few days ago. I know there are pros and cons for the environment with electric cars too, but I feel like reducing my cardon footprint is helpful.
Decided not to use pastic cups or paper plates anymore. Will stick with just doing more dishes! I still use paper towels but I try to buy the hemp version.
Still committed to buying as much used clothing as possible. There is a great consignment shop in Portsmouth NH called Warehouse. This is my go too. I also use Thredup when I am getting rid of my clothing.
That's it for now. Hope summer is just the best for you too!
